Chris McClung, LMFT-Associate

Supervised by Dr. Tim Parker

I’m Chris McClung, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate under the supervision of Dr. Tim Parker. I help families, couples, adolescents, and children work through emotional and relational challenges in a safe, supportive environment.

Life presents an infinite assortment of challenges. I believe relationships help us navigate life’s difficulties. My therapeutic style is focused on fostering relationships through expressing emotions and facilitating clear communication. I focus on emotions, emphasize strengths, and explore broader context. My approach is grounded in Emotionally Focused Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy, with additional training in the Gottman Method (Levels 1 & 2), play therapy, and techniques from CBT and DBT. I conduct both short- and long-term therapy, tailored to each client’s goals and pace.

I support individuals and families facing challenges like relationship conflict (including parenting and partner issues), emotional disconnection, depression, anxiety, loneliness, risk-taking or self-destructive behavior. I also have experience in helping clients who have had negative or unhelpful therapy experiences and want to try again.

I previously provided therapy at the Community Life Counseling Center at UMHB, and Baylor Scott & White McLane Children’s Specialty Clinic. I hold an MA in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. I have also completed Gottman Method levels 1 & 2.

Originally from Maryland, I completed my undergraduate studies at Arizona State University before earning my MA in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling at UMHB here in Texas.
